Mountain Patches

I was inspired at a convention to create this image because of the influence Black culture has globally. I set and mediated over the power we’ve created culturally and how we yield it. I thought about how the top of industries still leaves us out of the room. How the better we get at our craft, how less of our community has access to it. How we still trying to break the ceilings.

This image connects and visualizes these truths. Mountains are some of the highest land masses born deep in the depths of the ocean.

Together these symbols represent a people who struggled through some of the lowest moments in human history, whom building beyond the clouds. We have ridges, cliffs, valleys, but we a growing force. Born by Pressure.
